In the Federal Government Educational Institutions (Cantonments/Garrisons) Directorate (FGEI C/G), the IT section has a multifaceted role encompassing several key responsibilities related to technology implementation and management. Here’s how the IT section contributes in various areas.
The IT section spearheads the transition to an electronic office environment (e-office) within FGEI C/G. This involves digitizing administrative processes, streamlining workflows, and enhancing efficiency through digital documentation, approval workflows, and collaboration tools.
Development and deploying HRMS tailored to the specific needs of FGEI C/G. These systems streamline HR processes such as transfer/ postings, performance evaluation report PER, promotions,Leave and employee records management.
The School Management System manages student information, academic records, scheduling, and communication with parents and guardians.
The IT section developed and maintains an indigenous Induction and internship portal to facilitate the recruitment process and internship programs within FGEI C/G. This portal enables efficient posting of job vacancies, application submissions, candidate evaluations, and intern management all over the country, thereby enhancing the workforce planning and development efforts of the directorate.
Ensuring the cyber security of FGEI C/G is a critical responsibility of the IT section. They implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the directorate’s IT infrastructure, systems, and data from cyber threats, unauthorized access, malware, and other vulnerabilities. This includes establishing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, regular security audits, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policies and standards.
The IT section designs, deploys, and maintains the networking infrastructure of FGEI C/G. This includes local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks, and internet connectivity across various campuses and administrative offices. They ensure seamless connectivity, reliability, and performance of network services to support day-to-day operations and communication within the directorate.
The IT section provides training and technical support to staff members across FGEI C/G to facilitate effective use of IT systems and tools. This includes training on e-office procedures, HRMS, and cybersecurity best practices. They also offer ongoing support to resolve IT-related issues and optimize system performance.
